Website Analysis - Ellie Goulding

I have chosen to analyse the website of Ellie Goulding because I analysed her digipak and her music and genre also suits our artist.

This is the homepage of her website. It is different from the digipak I have analysed; this may because she is changing her appearance to please her audience and suit the style of an artist in 2014.

The colours of her website are more vibrant and more eye catching. You can also see that in some of the hyperlinked photos which she has used, this matches her background. This is because the background is almost representing her new album, 'Halcyon Days'.

The photo which she has used for the background is of her as though she is whipping her hair. The way the photo has been taken makes her look wild and adventurous, a different look to what she had on her digipak.  The other photos which she has used on the home page almost represent her as a person and an artist and give the audience an idea of her life and what her personality is like.

The text in the website is also bold and all in Capitals. The use of this font also gives the artist a more dynamic look and approach and makes her appear bolder and louder.

The way in which she has set out each separate photo on the homepage is also like a social networking page as she has a grid of photos which have been dated, as though to show what that day of her life was like.

At the top of the homepage there is this toolbar. The artist has used this toolbar to promote herself through other social networking websites, such as Twitter and YouTube. Although it is small and not hugely noticeable some of her audience will be interested and click on the links. Doing this would get her more noticed and more people will follow her on these sites. This means that when promoting using Twitter for example will become more noticed, causing her to be more successful.

The navigation bar on her website is also not really a bar. The buttons are set out singly and separated by a triangle. The triangle can be seen as 'indie' and 'hipster' which could be a new style which the artist is aiming for.
